What are the differences between sugaring and waxing?
Unlike wax, Sugaring is a hair removal method that employs an all-natural,
organic substance made of sugar, water and lemon, to remove the hair at a
deeper level than more conventional methods. Sugaring is less painful than
waxing, because it is applied at near-body temperature, and doesn't cause
the blood to rise to the surface of the skin. It doesn't actually adhere to
the skin, like wax, and so reduces trauma to the follicle or pore. The
sugar is water-soluble, naturally antibacterial, and not tested on animals.
It can remove hair shorter than that which wax can remove, and those who
have sensitivities to wax will be happy to hear that it is hypo-allergenic.
The sugaring method offers a very precise and through result. Sugaring results in an overall permanent reduction
of hair
What kind of Sugar do you use and why?
We use both Strip Sugaring and Hand Paste in our practice. Both Sugar
pastes, are made of sugar, water and lemon. It is the strip sugaring that
employs an actual cotton strip. The strip method is used in combination
with the hand paste method to achieve a much smoother and thorough result.
We tend to use both Strip Sugaring and Hand Paste on the arms and legs, and
solely hand paste on other, more complex areas that require more moulding
and manoeuvrability like the underarm or bikini areas
How long must my hair be in order to be sugared?
To sugar after shaving there needs to be approximately 10 days of new hair
growth, depending on your growth speed. Sugar can remove hair that is ¼
inch long after shaving, or 1/8 inch long after waxing or Sugaring
What are the differences between a basic, partial and full bikini?
For a
basic bikini the hair is removed 1/2 inch into the panty line along
the legs. For a
partial bikini the hair is removed further into the panty
line about an inch, causing a narrower (V) shape or a rectangular shape.
The hair is also tidied up at the top of the bikini about an inch or two
down. However, it does not remove hair along the more intimate areas. A
full bikini includes anything that involves the more intimate parts of the
bikini area, along all soft-tissue areas. This includes bikini styles that
leave a patch or strip behind. Sugaring can safely remove this hair leaving
skin far less irritated than other methods
